CAST-X SERIES 1000 Circulation Heaters, STRETCH-TO-LENGTHTM Heaters, DIN-A-MITE® Power Controllers, SERIES PD Controllers
Watlow has always been and continues to be committed to its customers. This commitment is demonstrated in the many new products and services that have been developed during the past year. These products differentiate Watlow from other companies. For Watlow to remain competitive in today's volatile economy, it must provide the best value to its customers and be the best in the industry.

New Heater Products

CAST-X SERIES 1000 Circulation Heater
One of Watlow's new circulation heaters, the CAST-X SERIES 1000 consists of a spiral-coiled tube set in an aluminum body with tubular heating elements. This construction offers many benefits over other circulation heaters because the aluminum mass maintains accurate and consistent temperature, allowing optimal temperature control. The aluminum body also efficiently conducts heat away from the tubular heating elements, which prolongs the heater's life. Applications for this product include solvent heating, analytical instrumentation, steam generation and paint heating.

VERSALINE 500 In-Line Heater
Another of Watlow's high technology circulation heaters, the VERSALINE 500 is ideal for situations where a high-watt density circulation heater is required but space is limited because all the necessary components, including a FIREROD® heater, inlet/outlet lines, thermocouple and tubing, are presented in a compact package. The applications for this product include gas in-line heating and analytical fluid warming.

RAPID RESPONSE Electric Heat Exchanger
Watlow's RAPID RESPONSE is an innovative new circulation heater design. What makes it unique is the fast thermal response, low internal volume, the ability to operate under very high pressure and its small footprint. These features provide a compact design and precise temperature control for applications that demand it. Applications include fuel cell gas heating, semiconductor tool gas heating, semiconductor/aerospace/foodservice equipment on-demand water heating and refrigeration systems.

UNIVERSAL SOLVENT Circulation Heater
Watlow's new UNIVERSAL SOLVENT circulation heater provides a safe and efficient means of heating low flash-point solvents. Both the heating elements and the solvent tube are cast into the aluminum. The heating elements provide heat to the aluminum mass and the mass transfers this heat to the tube carrying the solvent. The applications for this heater include wafer cleaning equipment (wet benches), post etch wet strip and photoresist removal applications and heating of low flash-point solvents such as EKC, ACT and NMP.

Thick Film Heaters on Ceramic
Watlow's new thick film heaters on ceramic are ideal for the semiconductor processing industry because they ensure successful wafer processing, testing and packaging. These units offer superior thermal characteristics, small heater size, chemical compatibility and ultra pure materials. Applications for this heater include wafer pre-heat bake stations, photolithography track systems, annealing and IC test.

STRETCH-TO-LENGTHTM Heaters
Watlow's new STRETCH-TO-LENGTHTM gas line heater system was developed to provide an easy-to-assemble, low-cost solution to heating gas delivery lines in semiconductor processing applications. These applications include gas delivery lines - boron trichloride, chlorine trifluoride, dichlorosilane and tetra ethyl orthosilicate.

BABY-O Engine Preheater
Watlow's BABY-O Engine Preheater is constructed of 100 percent welded heavy gauge steel and was designed to withstand environmental extremes. Because of its design, the BABY-O is reliable and efficient, ensuring that it will not rupture or leak. Not only does this product boast a compact size so that it can be used in tight or small spaces, but the hermetically sealed joints prevent leaks associated with plastic tanks. This product can be custom designed for wattages, voltages, mounting schemes, power connections and tank design.

LA Lead Adapter Improvements
The new FIREROD Lead Adapter is now welded on all options, providing a pull strength two and a half times greater than the previous drilled connection. The new LA is applicable for almost any market and is the best option for applications that require minimum no-heat. This new construction is ideal for use in applications with extreme flexing and movement. This improved construction is available for the same cost.

New Temperature Sensing Products

ENVIROSEALTM RTD Sensor
The new ENVIROSEALTM cold end seal keeps moisture, oil and other contaminants away from the RTD sensor, which assures accurate and dependable temperature measurement. Applications include refrigeration or condensation units, food processing and storage, medical research and packaging equipment.

Thermocouple Sensor Technologies
Watlow's MICROCOIL, RADIO FREQUENCY Thermocouple Probe (RF), Tapered Thermocouple Probe and TRUE SURFACE Thermocouple (TST) all incorporate isothermal physical principles to achieve superior surface temperature measurement. The isothermal design provides accurate sensing because the areas of the sensor that are exposed to normal process variances are positioned outside the thermal gradient. These four sensor technologies are now available as standard products that can be ordered with a variety of options.

INFOSENSETM Sensors
Watlow's new INFOSENSETM sensor technology instantly improves the accuracy of Watlow's existing thermocouple and RTD sensors by a minimum of 50 percent. Sensor characteristics are listed on small tags attached to each sensor. Users simply enter each value into a controller's memory through the controller's standard menu. Entering the codes immediately improves accuracy by at least 50 percent across the entire temperature range. INFOSENSE is available as a standard option on all catalog mineral insulated, general application and RTD sensors. It is also a standard option with Watlow's new SD controllers, and is available for a nominal fee on other Watlow sensors.

New Temperature Controller Products

New DIN-A-MITE® Power Controllers
Watlow recently updated the DIN-A-MITE® family of power controllers. The new line of controllers is versatile, compact and environmentally safe. This product is ideal in an application requiring control of electric heat. Key product upgrades include:

PPC-200 for Extrusion Control, Thick Film on Ceramic, VERSALINE 500 In-Line Heaters, MLS300 Controller with CIM, INFOSENSETM Sensors
SERIES D8 Controllers
The Watlow D8 SERIES is a powerful line of controllers that provide performance, flexibility and the ability to easily integrate into systems with DeviceNetTM networks on CAN (Controller Area Network). This product can be applied in the semiconductor and life sciences markets.

SERIES SD Controllers
The SERIES SD controllers offer accurate, cost effective and reliable temperature control. The SD family provides an improved user interface display, utilizes Watlow's patented User-Defined Menu System and is supported by WATVIEW software. The applicable markets include plastics processing, packaging, semiconductor processing and environmental chambers.

SERIES PD Controllers
Watlow's new SERIES PD controllers use embedded Ethernet technology to provide a convenient, economical means for setting up and viewing key process variables. The SERIES PD controllers provide high performance temperature and process control and are ideally suited for a broad range of applications where the I/O is supported from a remote location.

EM GATEWAY: An Ethernet/Internet Connectivity Solution
Watlow's EM GATEWAY serves as a bridge for ModbusTM communication between Ethernet technology and Watlow's legacy standard controllers. The GATEWAY also provides a quick, convenient and economical means of adapting controllers to Ethernet connectivity.

MLS300 Controller with CIM
The new CIM option by Watlow Anafaze provides OEMs with a space and labor saving alternative to the standard AIM module. This innovation allows users to construct a wiring harness to attach sensors via a connector instead of running individual wires to the controller. The remote CIM option also allows for shorter sensor wires and flexible mounting which reduces installation time.

CDN GATEWAY
CDN GATEWAY links DeviceNetTM systems to a variety of Watlow controllers via their EIA\485 ModbusTM interface. The CDN GATEWAY allows a DeviceNetTM Master node to send and receive data using standard POLL or EXPLICIT messaging. This product is available from stock for quick shipment and is backed by warranties.

PPC-2000 for Extrusion Control
Watlow's solution for extrusion control provides integration houses with multiple benefits for control system upgrades or complete system rebuilds. Features include allowing staff to select the language they are most comfortable with for system setup; reducing time and cost during set-up, trouble-shooting and control system fine-tuning as well as allowing integration houses to maintain control of future program changes.

TPS (Temperature Profiling Solutions)
This new service provides detailed temperature profiling information via a software tool that is used to create heater designs. The primary benefit of TPS is the reduction in prototyping. This minimizes the number of prototypes by creating a temperature profile for the design first. This allows the product team to be involved in a potential new application before actually building the heater. This again reduces lead time and increases operational efficiency.

RAPID RESPONSE Heat Exchanger Case History
Opportunity: A Watlow customer was in search of a compact, high-speed thermal solution for heating a solvent that is used to clean a printer head. The customer's existing design was a water-based system.

Problem: While developing a new printing system design using a solvent, the customer was looking to improve and reduce the footprint of the heating system. Based on preliminary development using historical wattages, the customer believed they needed 300 watts. Other proposed solutions could not provide fast enough thermal response. The footprint of these solutions was large and would not allow them to be physically located close to the process. These factors contributed to the 300 watt requirement.

Solution: Watlow proposed a RAPID RESPONSE Electric Heat Exchanger, which consists of a significantly smaller package size. The smaller design allowed the RAPID RESPONSE to be located much closer to the customer's process, which significantly reduced the heat loss coverage required. The result was the wattage decreased from 300 watts to 100 watts.

Due to the unit's fast thermal response time, the customer's needs were met.
