Our History
A Tradition of Product Innovation
The year was 1922. Industry was thriving, and St. Louis, Missouri, was one of the great shoe manufacturing capitals of the world. Sensing an opportunity, Louis Desloge Sr. founded Watlow to manufacture electric heating elements for shoe steamers and dryers.

Through the years, Mr. Desloge promoted electric heat as the new and better alternative to gas heat, which is both hard to control and confine, and steam heating, which is expensive to install and maintain. As our customers' industrial electric heating applications expanded, our engineers responded with innovative new products which soon became industry standards. We're continuing that tradition of providing outstanding heaters, sensors and controllers to insure your company enjoys the competitive advantage needed in today's global markets.

FIREROD® Cartridge HeaterWatlow revolutionized the heater industry with the patented FIREROD® high watt density cartridge heater, still the industry leader. Mineral insulated leads handle temperatures to 1500ºF (815ºC) and resist contamination.
The patented FIREBAR® heating element's unique flat surface geometry provides more power in smaller bundles than traditional round tubular heaters for immersion applications. The heater's design also minimizes scaling, coking and fluid degradation.
The DIN-A-MITE® family of power controls deliver up to 100 amps in a compact, DIN rail--or sub-panel--mount.

XACTPAK® CablesXACTPAK® mineral insulated, metal-sheathed cable, designed to perform at temperatures to 2700ºF (1480ºC), was pioneered by Watlow Gordon engineers.
THINBAND® HeatersThe flexible one-piece design of the patented THINBAND® heater makes installation on plastic molding equipment fast. The QUICK CLAMP option makes installation even easier.
R5000 SensorThe NSF-approved R5000 meat piercing probe has area sensing capabilities of 3/4 inch for better cooking process control.
The Series 988 process controller offers more features and greater versatility than any other 1/8 DIN controller.
